A memorandum of understanding related to campus closures on December 21 and December 26 was reached. All bargaining unit members will be provided opportunities to accrue compensatory time to make up for the work hours lost on December 21 and 26.

5/2018 Jenny Ho, Seattle Community College:  

The union was notified about a few schedule and location changes. No concerns were raised by affected members. The union has also been notified about the college’s intent to implement several reorganizations. The notification is currently under review by members.

The union was notified about a new identification card policy. The College will issue combined identification and access cards to all employees. Employees will not be required to wear the ID cards but are encouraged to carry their ID card on their person to access work spaces and to produce it if needed to gain access to specialty spaces.

A demand to bargain will be filed to negotiate a memorandum of understanding on providing employees opportunities for compensatory time due to the college’s December closures around the Christmas holiday.

4/16/18 Jenny Ho, Seattle Community College:   

The union met with the college on a demand to bargain on the reorganization of foundations. Four classified positions will be eliminated. There will be three new classified positions and one new exempt position to support the newly hired Vice Chancellor (all at one salary range higher). The new positions will be posted internally on May 11. The college will notify the union of any changes throughout the transition process.   

4/16/18 Jenny Ho   

A demand to bargain was held to discuss the installation of security cameras. New cameras in south campus have relieved some of our member’s security concerns. The college agreed to not use cameras to monitor or evaluate employees.

2/19/18 Jenny Ho   

A demand to bargain was held to address concerns on IT reorganization. CTO Cindy Riche outlined a communications plan, including one-on-ones, monthly meetings and project teams to drive reorganization decisions, to keep all IT employees updated on the reorganization.
